Katrien Kolenberg's work lies in the interstices of scientific exploration and artistic expression. After obtaining her PhD in astrophysics at the KU Leuven, she conducted research at the University of Vienna and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, interspersed with extended stays in Africa and Asia to teach astronomy and create art. Currently, she is an established expert in variable star studies and asteroseismology, Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Antwerp and the Free University of Brussels, Professor of Science Communication and Associate Research Fellow at the KU Leuven, coordinator of national programs to teach STE(A)M* in a space context, and an artist. Katrien is passionate about using astronomy as a tool for global development and art as a way to touch and reflect upon the human condition.
